Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Health and Safety Officer.
As the Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Health & Safety policies to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
In your new role:
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, including manual handling, COSHH, and fire prevention
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations, reducing risks and preventing accidents
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Act as the key point of contact for external bodies on Health & Safety matters
- Participate in monthly meetings, presenting relevant Health & Safety data
- Identify training needs in collaboration with department managers
- Develop and implement effective training programmes aligned with company goals
- Deliver induction and job-specific training for new employees, as well as ongoing training for existing colleagues
- Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to Health & Safety and training
- Analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement
What you will need to succeed:
- 3+ years' experience within a similar Health & Safety role
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
- Experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ISO standards and auditing
- Experience in coordinating and delivering training
- Good communication skills
- IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- IOSH Membership
- NEBOSH Diploma
