Project Engineer (Electronics - 4 day week)

Salary: £33-42K plus benefits - depending on skillset levels and industry experience

Mid County Down area

Currently trialling 4 day week (Prior worked to 12 noon on Fridays) - 38 days a week - Monday to Thursdays - With flexibility on start and finish times also

Reports to: The Engineering Manager

Summary:

Responsible for the management, control, and coordination of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from the quoting phase, through manufacturing, to product realisation (The company isn't involved in the initial customer development of the products, they are a manufacturer only). The role ensures a seamless transfer of the project into production while meeting deadlines, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Main responsibilities of this Project Engineer:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring effective planning, execution, and delivery
  • Manufacturing Data Conversion: Translate customer drawings and specifications into manufacturing data
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Creation: Develop bills of materials and product structures for manufacturing
  • Process Documentation: Create operator build instructions and process documentation for production teams
  • Process Optimisation: Assign process times and select the most efficient manufacturing processes to maximise productivity
  • Customisation and Technical Support: Provide technical support for customisations of existing product designs and build-to-print products
  • Hands-on Support: Offer practical support in model and pre-production builds as required by the business
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure accurate and up-to-date record-keeping of project and production data
  • Contract Review: Participate in contract reviews, addressing all NPI engineering and commercial considerations
  • Engineering Change Management: Coordinate and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) on active production lines
  • ISO Compliance: Ensure all documentation aligns with the requirements of ISO 9001 standards

Essential Criteria of this Project Engineer:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role within electronics / electrical engineering manufacturing environments
  • Experience with manufacturing assemblies and a solid understanding of associated processes
