Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a supplier of materials for the construction industry on the appointment of a Health & Safety Manager.

As a Health & Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in promoting a safe working environment, conducting risk assessments, and implementing health and safety policies.

In your new role:

  • Manage the Health & Safety budget and maintain the site's safety systems
  • Oversee and improve the Health & Safety program, ensuring legal compliance
  • Regularly update risk assessments and safe work systems to align with site operations
  • Conduct specialised risk assessments (e.g. Manual Handling, COSHH) to meet standards and legal requirements
  • Support site teams with statutory inspections and ensure machinery safety
  • Manage emergency procedures and fire safety in line with policies and risk assessments
  • Report RIDDOR incidents to HSE and manage related correspondence
  • Investigate accidents/incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company accreditations
  • Support business units by promoting Health & Safety best practices
  • Organise and lead H&S meetings and present monthly performance reports to senior management
  • Collaborate with Business Partners and HR to implement Health & Safety strategies, training, and compliance
  • Manage the Health & Safety compliance schedule, internal audits, and inspections.
  • Perform various administrative tasks related to Health & Safety

What you will need to succeed:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety role
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH)
  • Experience in implementing and managing hazard identification and risk management processes
  • Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience in conducting Health and Safety investigations
  • Experience in managing and implementing Health and Safety management systems
  • Demonstrable experience in building relationships with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
  • NEBOSH Fire Safety certification
  • ISO Lead Auditor Training
