Maintenance Automation Engineer
Dublin 22

Vickerstock are working with an international Food Manufacturing client with the recruitment of a Maintenance Automation Engineer for their site in Dublin 22. The Maintenance Automation Engineer will work day shifts, providing hands-on support to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or the shift Technician along with providing online / remote / out-of-hour Automation support when needed.

The role will be a flexible role and will require a mix of onsite and remote support which can be tailored to suit the successful candidate.


Your new role as a Maintenance Automation Engineer;

  • Fully responsible for all Automation related tasks within the Cold Store Warehouse.
  • Delivery of departmental goals as outlined in department KPI's.
  • Developing and managing the Automation elements of the Annual Maintenance budget.
  • General Maintenance support as part of the wider Cold Store Maintenance Team.
  • Responsible for carrying out Risk Assessments and reviewing RAMS, SOP's and other project and departmental documents.
  • Develop and organise Automation training and coaching for other members of the Maintenance Team.
  • Ensure that correct spares are maintained for all the equipment, using SAP.
  • Identify areas for Continuous Improvement within the Cold Store Automated system.
  • Be the primary Automation resource on all related CAPEX projects within the Cold Store Warehouse.
  • Manage external contractors to ensure Automation Maintenance repairs and projects are completed on target and within budget.
  • Ensure all issue raised from external and internal audits are addressed and closed out as per agreed schedule.
  • Review the daily shift reports to identify any opportunities for Automation follow-ups and improvements.


What you will need to succeed;

  • 5 years minimum experience with a strong interest in automation engineering
  • Degree Level 8 in Engineering - Electrical, Automation and Control
  • A Qualified Electrical Engineer with strong Automation skills
  • Excellent Maintenance support experience within live automated working environments.
  • Ability to provide Electrical, Automation and Mechanical maintenance support where required.
  • Experience Siemens Step 7, Simatic Manager, WinCC Flex, WinCC 7.4 and TIA Portal, Wonderware InTouch
  • Experience with fault finding of Automated systems thorough interrogation / review of STL functional code incl. VAT lookup tables etc.
  • Experience with other control systems platforms is an advantage.
  • Must be able to understand, fault find, develop, improve and deploy PLC code and hardware in line with industry best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of motor control especially that using Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis and report writing skills are essential.
