Irish Food & Drink Exports Hit Record High
Irish food, drink, and horticulture exports soared to a record-breaking €17 billion last year, Bord Bia has revealed in its Export Performance and Prospects Report for 2024/25. This impressive figure marks a 5% increase compared to 2023, reflecting the resilience and global appeal of Ireland's agri-food sector.
While higher pricing played a significant role in driving export value growth amid ongoing inflation, the sector’s achievements remain noteworthy. Dairy continues to lead the charge, with stable exports year-on-year valued at €6.3 billion—more than double the value reported a decade ago in 2014/15.
Meat and livestock exports also showed strength, growing by 6% to reach €4.3 billion. Meanwhile, Irish drinks exports sparkled with a 19% surge, topping €2.1 billion. Whiskey led the way, with export values climbing 13% to over €1 billion, while the emerging "ready-to-drink" category experienced phenomenal growth, tripling to €235 million.
In terms of destination markets, the European Union and the UK shared the top spot, each accounting for €5.9 billion of Irish food and drink exports. Within the EU, France, Germany, and Belgium stood out as key partners. Exports to North America also surged by 14% to €2 billion, underscoring Ireland's expanding global reach.
