New Safety Campaign Launched
A major safety campaign kicks off this week, set to bring together thousands of construction workers and companies in a united effort to reduce critical risks on construction sites while promoting education on safety practices and heart health awareness.
Launched by the Construction Industry Federation (CIF), the initiative will feature nationwide "toolbox talks," CPR training, and other events to educate workers about potential dangers on-site and raise awareness around safety.
The CIF sees this campaign as an opportunity for the entire industry to rally together to reduce risks through enhanced awareness, preparation, and training.
“There’s nothing more important than safeguarding the well-being of those who work on our sites,” said Sean Downey, Director of Safety and Training at CIF.
Downey emphasised that "Critical Risks" refer to common tasks that, if not properly managed, could result in severe injury or even death. These risks include working at heights, handling heavy machinery, electrical work, as well as mental and physical health challenges.
This year, CIF has partnered with the Irish Heart Foundation to spotlight heart health, both at home and on-site. “We’re encouraging construction companies to make CPR training part of their workplace culture, giving employees the skills to save lives,” Downey added.
