Vickerstock are proud to be working in partnership with a long established Food Production Client to recruit an ambitious and highly driven and Quality Assistant for their busy manufacturing facility in Coleraine.

As the successful Quality Assistant you will be part of a small team responsible for leading and monitoring the company's compliance to quality and food safety by ensuring adherence to the highest of customer and regulatory standards including the management of activities designed to guarantee food safety, integrity, legality and quality

Your new role as Quality Assistant

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our quality systems and processes.
  • Ensuring the effective implementation and continuous monitoring of customer standards into the site's quality management system
  • Ensure the upkeep of the food safety and quality manual for all relevant customer codes of practice to include integrity and food safety
  • Co-ordinate customer complaints; conduct investigations, responses and close outs
  • Support resolutions to issues raised through external audits ensuring they are closed out in a timely manner and to a standard that will prevent reoccurrence
  • Maintain customer online systems
  • Assist in the compliance with BRC requirements
  • Co-ordinate with the QA Manager and other department representatives in facilitating customer visits and technical requests
  • Complete internal audits as required, ensuring that any non-conformances are reported to management
  • Participate in HACCP review meetings
  • Provide technical input/guidance for product launch including artwork changes, quality specification and customer specific requirements

What will you need to succeed

  • Degree in Food Technology or related subject
  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Good understanding of food traceability
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Highly competent IT user including Microsoft Office
  • Problem-solving skills including root cause analysis
  • Proactive approach and willingness to take on additional responsibilities

Desirable

  • Level 3 Food Safety qualification
  • Internal Auditing qualification
  • Previous internal auditing experience
  • Experience of major retailers' codes of practice
