Job description
Vickerstock are excited to be working in partnership with our dynamic agri-food client in their search for a Technical Manager for their site based in Dungannon.
As the successful TM, you will oversee the Technical, Hygiene Department, the people within, with responsibility for site food safety and quality, relevant systems policies, procedures and equipment. Leading audits, complaints and generally being the onsite Food safety, technical point of contact.
What your day to day will look like:
- Ensure finished products and raw materials meet specifications, maintaining food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance. Lead internal audits, manage HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and oversee supplier and customer audit protocols.
- Handle customer complaints, quality alerts, and defect reports, while ensuring suppliers comply with relevant requirements. Maintain strong customer relationships and oversee specifications and audit adherence.
- Train, motivate, and manage staff to achieve quality and safety goals. Oversee recruitment, retention, and development, ensuring the team operates efficiently and meets key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive process improvements, implement and maintain GMP and internal audit systems, manage hygiene protocols, and seek cost-saving opportunities for chemicals, equipment, and testing.
- Plan and coordinate departmental activities, manage budgets, ensure compliance with best practices and legislation, and take the lead in third-party audits while providing statistical reports on performance.
What you will need to succeed:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a technical/quality management role within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and BRCGS standards.
- Experience in customer and supplier management, including handling complaints, audits, and compliance.
- Experience leading and developing teams, with a track record of driving continuous improvement.
Desirable Criteria (it would be great if you have these but don't worry if you don't):
- Experience in Plant Based, Vegan and Vegetarian Product manufacture.
- Experience in High-Risk Production Requirements
- Experience in Chilled and/or Frozen Production
- Train the Trainer Qualification
- Level 4 HACCP Qualification
