  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement initiatives to enhance productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Manage team performance by setting and monitoring annual SMART goals in line with the High-Performance framework.
  • Take overall responsibility for equipment maintenance and training within your area.
  • Strategically plan headcount, production costs, and expenditure to remain within budget and targets.
  • Identify production CAPEX requirements to support organisational strategies and maintain capabilities.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to drive operational improvements, order fulfilment, quality control, and shipping.
  • Assess and promptly act on internal and external quality feedback from key department managers.
  • Develop, review, and manage production and distribution budgets to achieve financial objectives.
  • Train, mentor, and support direct reports in recruitment, staff development, disciplinary actions, and HR policies.

As an Operations Manager, ideally you will have;

  • Educated to a third-level qualification in an engineering or business-related subject and/or a minimum of three years' experience managing a team, preferably in a heavy engineering environment, or five years at a supervisory level in a manufacturing setting.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing management within a lean, heavy equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating production schedules to meet customer and shipping requirements.
  • Experience working with shipping and logistics departments.
  • Ability to manage pressures and setbacks effectively.
  • Experience using an ERP system, particularly Epicor or Oracle, would be advantageous.
  • Experience in budget management.
  • Strong ability to interact professionally with all levels of internal management, staff, and external clients and suppliers.

  • A high degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
