In your new role:

  • Support project teams in delivering work safely, fostering a strong health and safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability (HSQE) policies, legislation and industry standards
  • Provide on-site HSQE presence during construction and operations to monitor and enforce safety measures
  • Assist senior advisors in developing and implementing site-specific safety plans - including traffic and waste management
  • Ensure the company fulfils its duties as Principal Designer (PD), Principal Contractor (PC) and Contractor
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, ensuring actions are recorded and addressed
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, supporting root cause analysis and recommending improvements
  • Review and manage safety documentation from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Lead site safety inductions, briefings and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors
  • Maintain and update site safety documentation, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 standards
  • Liaise with external stakeholders on HSQE matters and assist in regulatory reporting
  • Identify training needs, ensuring employees receive appropriate HSQE training before new projects commence

What you will need to succeed:

  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
  • 1-2 years' experience within a similar H&S role
  • Experience with Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare (Construction) Regulations 2013
  • Experience with report writing, organisation or planning
  • Good communication skills
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
  • Full driving license - travel to site required

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience in both construction and utilities would be an advantage
  • NEBOSH Diploma
