Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager.

As the HSE Manager, you will lead and promote a strong culture of Health, Safety and Environmental ownership across the business' Northern Ireland operations, working closely with management and teams to ensure compliance and employee wellbeing.

In your new role:

  • Lead and drive health, safety, and environmental initiatives, fostering accountability and ownership
  • Maintain systems to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and industry standards
  • Coach and support teams in developing and maintaining HSE management systems aligned with ISO standards
  • Act as the subject matter expert and key contact for all H&S matters
  • Develop and implement H&S strategies to improve safety performance and reduce incidents
  • Engage stakeholders in safety improvements and ensure participation in safety initiatives
  • Lead risk assessment and hazard control programs, ensuring effective risk management
  • Oversee safety training programs to enhance awareness and compliance across all levels
  • Collaborate with HSE teams across the company to share best practices and align with broader company goals
  • Monitor and report HSE performance, ensuring sustainability and continuous improvement

What you will need to succeed:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety leadership role
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH/IOSH)
  • Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Experience in managing and implementing Health & Safety management systems
  • Demonstrable experience in building relationships with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
  • Additional H&S related certifications
  • Environmental certification
