Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a food manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Health & Safety Partner.

As a Health and Safety Partner, you will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the Health and Safety of all employees, contractors and visitors to the company's farms. You will also be the main source of expert advice on Health and Safety matters for the company's farm sites.

In your new role:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of employees, contractors, and visitors at company farms
  • Promote and maintain a workplace safety culture, including behavioural safety strategies
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain the safety dashboard
  • Participate in LEAN management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee safety for processes, property, and personnel
  • Report weekly and monthly on accidents, incidents, near misses, and other safety metrics
  • Ensure operations, processes, and procedures comply with health and safety regulations
  • Investigate and report on accidents and incidents, recommending necessary changes
  • Perform risk assessments, conduct risk analyses and recommend changes
  • Maintain relationships with relevant authorities to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Train and coach managers and staff on health and safety compliance
  • Manage contractors and project work on-site, including risk assessments and work methods
  • Review working practices and safety equipment to meet insurer and regulatory requirements (e.g., electrical testing)
  • Participate in group initiatives, including the safety forum
  • Plan, coordinate, and document safety training (including supplier selection and budgeting)
  • Complete employee inductions

What you will need to succeed:

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification
  • Health & Safety experience in a similar position
  • Experience of managing a multi-site operation
  • A proactive and flexible working approach with the ability to adapt to changing situations and duties - regular travel will be required
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrable experience in building relationships with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Experience of farming and livestock would be a distinct advantage
