Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a food manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Group Health & Safety Officer.

As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you will support the development, implementation and management of the firm's H&S programmes. Tasks will include conducting audits, risk assessments, managing contractor safety, training and reporting on safety performance.

In your new role:

  • Support the Health & Safety Manager in implementing and managing health and safety policies and activities to ensure compliance
  • Perform regular risk assessments to identify hazards, propose solutions, and ensure safety measures for equipment and processes
  • Manage training records to ensure employee compliance and maintain meeting trackers to monitor follow-ups and action items
  • Conduct workplace audits (e.g., housekeeping, equipment inspections) to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Draft, review, and update Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with current safety standards and legislative changes
  • Manage PPE distribution and work with environmental teams to integrate safety with sustainable practices
  • Oversee RTW processes, ensuring proper documentation, safe reintegration of employees, and completion of follow-up actions

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience in a similar Health & Safety role
  • Relevant H&S qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing H&S Compliance, audits and risk assessments
  • Familiarity with H&S software / training systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • FMCG / Food Manufacturing background
